My name is Stephanie Denroche and I am 17 years old. I became involved in Bratz Biz about 6 years ago. Each year I would choose a different craft to make, from bath salts to hot plates. It was a challenge to learn a new craft and learn how to market it. Because I live in Whistler I became an avid mountain biker and three years ago I decided to join my passion for biking and my interest in business. I started to make jewelry from recycled bike parts for Bratz Biz. It was a challenge for me and I think that over time the product has really improved. Now I sell my jewelry in a local bike store (Cross Country Connection at the café) and am looking to expand my sales in other stores. TaG cycling in Vancouver has approached me and asked if I would consider selling in their training facility. It is a great way to use my creativity and also feel like I am supporting the environmental movement by keeping things out of the landfill and making a useful product. Making things that are both useful and a product of recycled material has led me to expand my sales interests this year to include message boards, jewelry holders, and clocks which are all made from recycled products and include bike parts in them. My younger brother will join forces with me to create these new art pieces and it is fun for us to work together.
Bratz biz has been an amazing adventure for me. It has allowed me to experience the benefit of hard work and entrepreneurship. This year I am enrolled in Entrepreneurship 12 and I hope to learn how to further expand my business. I am also thinking of going into business for my post secondary degree. All of this starting from the devotion of two moms who make a world of difference for so many kids in the community! Thank you Susan and Carmen!
I will unveil my new art pieces at Bratz Biz this November. I guarantee that they will be original and fun!
